Kyle McCord throws 4 TD passes as Packers beat Cardinals 42-38 in preseason finale

Kyle McCord delivered a stellar performance, throwing four touchdown passes, with two crucial strikes to Kisean Johnson in the game's final minutes, as the Green Bay Packers edged out the Arizona Cardinals 42-38 in their preseason finale. The matchup took place in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Friday night.

Both teams opted to rest their starters to maintain health for the upcoming regular season. Notably, the Packers refrained from using backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor, allowing McCord the opportunity to showcase his skills throughout the entire game.

McCord completed 22 of 35 passes for 226 yards without committing any turnovers. With just 3:19 left, he connected with Johnson on a 28-yard throw, trimming Arizona's lead to 38-35 after Damien Martinez scored a two-point conversion run. McCord further extended the advantage with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Johnson with 20 seconds remaining.

Arizona's Jacoby Brissett, who will serve as the primary backup to Jacoby Brissett in the upcoming season, went 7 of 9 for 126 yards, throwing a 41-yard touchdown pass to Simi Fehoko on the opening play of the second quarter. Kedon Slovis, who will back up Jacoby Brissett as the secondary backup, completed 21 of 35 passes for 223 yards with two interceptions and one touchdown pass.

Fehoko added 94 receiving yards on five catches, including a 9-yard touchdown pass from Slovis in the fourth quarter. Arizona's Evan Hull rushed for 107 yards, scoring a 47-yard touchdown and a 1-yard run in the second and third quarters, respectively.

For Green Bay, Will Sheppard scored on an 81-yard punt return, and J. Michael Sturdivant had six catches for 112 yards and a touchdown. Rookie kicker Trey Smack concluded his impressive preseason by making field goals from 36 and 37 yards in a successful performance.
