Kebbi ADC crisis deepens as aggrieved candidates deny plot against Malami, allege forgery

In Kebbi State, three aggrieved candidates from the African Democratic Congress, ADC, have challenged allegations that they are being sponsored to jeopardize the party's governorship candidate, Abubakar Malami. Abubakar Sadiq Sa'adu Fakai, Muhammad Umar, and Nafiu Bello Shuwa are fighting in court against being replaced following their victories in the party's primaries.

A joint statement from the candidates dismissed claims they were being sponsored to cause internal strife and accused some party members of forging affidavits and other documents supposedly proving they had surrendered their candidacies. The aggrieved candidates, speaking through Fakai, emphasized they were not targeting Malami or the ADC but were persistently pursuing their legal attempts to recover what they believe were stolen positions.

Fakai reiterated that the allegations of sponsorship would not dissuade them from pursuing their cases in the courts, asserting their validity as candidates and their commitment to seeking justice through lawful avenues. The candidates also alleged that the forgeries extended beyond a mere party dispute, labeling it as a criminal act subject to legal consequences.

They denounced those allegedly supporting Malami and the ADC for potentially causing division within the party and undermining Malami's electoral prospects. The three candidates reaffirmed their allegiance to the ADC and other lawful party members, steadfast in their pursuit of legal action.
