Kane confirms talks on Bayern extension

Munich: Harry Kane, the Bayern Munich striker, has announced that discussions have commenced regarding an extension to his contract with the German champions beyond 2027. During a press conference following Bayern's 5-1 home victory over Stuttgart in the season opener, Kane revealed that the preliminary meeting for the contract negotiations took place last week. The 33-year-old forward is considered a top contender for the prestigious Ballon d'Or award, set to be presented in his hometown of London in August.

Kane emphasized that there are still several details to address but expressed his hope to continue his career at Bayern, a club he joined in 2023 from his hometown team Tottenham. The England captain, who is currently 33 years old, stated that signing a significant contract extension would be a major decision for him. Both parties involved in the talks, Kane and Bayern Munich, are not displaying any signs of urgency or panic. Kane is confident that they will reach a mutually beneficial agreement.

Last season, Kane scored an impressive 36 goals in 31 Bundesliga games, ranking third in the German top-flight with that tally. Moreover, he clinched the league and cup double for the club. In addition to his stellar club performances, Kane contributed 73 goals in total for both club and country last season, including six goals at the World Cup, where England reached the semi-finals.
