K-Defense Takes to the Seas: LIG D&A Targets the Baltic and North Sea

K-defense, represented by LIG Defense & Aerospace (LIG D&A), is making waves in Northern Europe's maritime security sector. At the DALO Industry Days 2026 in Herning, Denmark, LIG D&A unveiled its Sea Sword unmanned surface vessel (USV), Harbor Underwater Surveillance System (HUSS), and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) designed for mine detection, as well as the Hyungung anti-tank guided weapon.

These technologies are seen as a game-changer for monitoring maritime activity and protecting critical infrastructure in a region of growing strategic importance. As European nations prioritize maritime surveillance and security, unmanned systems offer a cost-effective and safe solution compared to traditional manned vessels. LIG D&A is not just selling standalone platforms but offering a comprehensive maritime package that combines surface and underwater autonomous systems, surveillance, reconnaissance, command-and-control, and communications technologies.

This approach is aimed at creating maritime manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) capabilities, enabling crewed and uncrewed assets to work together seamlessly. During the industry event, LIG D&A caught the attention of Denmark’s Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation, with the country's defence acquisition head visiting the company's booth and receiving a detailed briefing on its cutting-edge systems.

This interaction signals a growing interest from Nordic defense authorities in embracing autonomous maritime technologies. For LIG D&A, the message is clear: demand for maritime surveillance and unmanned systems in the Nordic region is on the rise, moving beyond traditional weapons systems.
