IG visits Niger, vows to rescue abducted worshippers

Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, visited Niger State on Saturday to evaluate the security situation and ongoing rescue efforts following an attack that resulted in the abduction of worshippers in Dekara District, Borgu Local Government Area. Disu met with the Deputy Governor, Yakubu Garba, who represented Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, and the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Maurice Magaji.

In a statement issued, Disu expressed condolences to the state government, people of Niger State, and families of the victims, assuring them that the safe recovery of the abducted individuals and the arrest of the perpetrators remained the priority of ongoing operations. Disu praised the command's response, the state government's support, and the need for sustained intelligence-led operations with a focus on the safety of victims and affected communities.
