‘He doesn’t know that I’m a wicket-taker’: Sooryavanshi reveals love for bowling

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made his debut in the 2026 Duleep Trophy domestic season, breaking records as India's youngest debutant in July. The 15-year-old, who plays for East Zone, made his high-profile debut as the vice-captain against the North East Zone. However, his batting performance was unimpressive as he was dismissed for eight runs.

Despite his batting struggles, the young batsman was called upon to bowl. Sooryavanshi responded with a brilliant performance, taking two wickets in a single over. His first wicket came when he dismissed North East Zone's Kishan Lyngdoh, who was on 25, while his second wicket was taken when he induced an edge from DP Das, who managed to hold onto the catch. In all, Sooryavanshi's two wickets and two catches provided a double delight for his team.

An entertaining bowler, Sooryavanshi expressed that he enjoys rolling his arm over as much as hitting boundaries. He admitted that he could bowl two or three overs but confessed that captain Ishan Kishan didn't know that he was a wicket-taker. The young cricketer was having fun while bowling, especially since he wasn't able to contribute much with the bat in his previous match.
