GTA 6's gameplay reveal pulled in 3.97 million peak viewers, overwhelming Twitch and Netflix in the process

Grand Theft Auto 6's first gameplay presentation streamed on Twitch and Netflix drew 3.97 million peak viewers, eclipsing other major gaming broadcasts of 2026. Streams Charts reported that 9,038 streamers covered the reveal on Rockstar Games' Netflix event, leading to 5.22 million hours watched. This surpassed the 3.81 million peak viewers of Summer Game Fest 2026, as well as June's Nintendo Direct and State of Play broadcasts.

Twitch accounted for 44% of the audience, followed by YouTube at 34.8% and Kick at 20.2%. Spanish streamer Juan Alberto "IlloJuan" Garcia set a new record with 233,520 peak viewers, surpassing Rubius (191,056) and IShowSpeed (177,887). The reveal went live at 8pm UK time but experienced technical issues on both platforms, causing some viewers to be locked out for 40-50 minutes.

Despite the disruptions, there were over 100,000 chat messages about the game during the three-hour window analyzed. While 65-72% of the messages were neutral, positive sentiments constituted 11-15% of the total, and negative reactions made up around 17-20%, mostly directed at the platform outages rather than the game itself. Many comparisons were made to GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, often with a negative tone, such as one viewer lamenting, "GTA V DLC FOR 80$ LMAO." Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to release on November 19th for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
