Goods engine derails near Arakkonam railway station

A goods train engine derailed near Arakkonam railway station on Saturday, according to initial reports. The incident occurred inside the railway yard at Melpakkam village, adjacent to the station in Ranipet. The 38-wagon train was en route to Bengaluru, carrying a shipment of consumer cars. Upon disengaging from the track, the engine's wheels veered off course, causing damage to the surrounding tracks.

Upon learning of the derailment, a team of senior railway officials and engineers arrived at the scene. Restoration efforts are underway, though railway officials maintain that nearby services between Arakkonam and Katpadi remain unaffected.
