Ghana High Commission to UK steps in to support stranded musician Barosky to return home

Veteran Ghanaian highlife musician Barosky has expressed his willingness to return to Ghana after the Ghana High Commission in the United Kingdom intervened to assess his welfare and explore support options. The initiative came after public concern over Barosky's well-being, following the widespread circulation of a distressing video of him on social media, which prompted an outpouring of concern from Ghanaians both in Ghana and abroad.

Ghana's High Commissioner to the UK, Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson, traveled to Manchester to meet with Barosky and members of the Ghanaian community to discuss how best to assist the veteran musician. The mission was initiated following numerous messages received by the High Commission, drawing attention to the video. Mrs. Benson emphasized that Barosky has significantly contributed to Ghanaian music, and it was crucial for the community to rally around him to help him recover.

The High Commissioner stated that the Ghana High Commission was prepared to facilitate Barosky's return to Ghana if he so desired. She highlighted the importance of restoring his wellbeing and noted that it would require a collective effort from the Ghanaian community. Mrs. Benson also paid tribute to Barosky's musical talent, asking how they could allow such a great talent to go to waste.

The High Commission continues to leverage Ghana's creative and cultural industries to promote the country internationally, including through music, arts, and culture.
