Egypt, Singapore discuss strengthening investment, trade ties

Egyptian Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid Saleh engaged in talks with Singaporean Ambassador Dominic Goh to bolster investment and trade relations between their nations. The discussion aimed to expand mutual investments and opportunities for Singaporean firms to establish a presence in Egypt. Saleh emphasized the importance of leveraging Singapore's expertise in financial centers, digital transformation, logistics, and supply chains to further advance the already positive relationship between Egypt and Singapore.

The minister stressed the need for intensified meetings and promotional efforts to showcase Egypt's investment opportunities to Singaporean companies and encourage existing firms to expand their operations in the country. The pair also discussed how to promote Egypt as a production and export hub, capitalizing on its strategic geographic location and existing trade agreements with various regions.

Both sides explored ways to increase exports from Egypt to Singapore and improve the trade balance by identifying competitive Egyptian products with potential for expansion in the Singaporean market. They also examined the potential benefits of Singapore's expertise in developing logistics and supply chains, which could contribute to the enhancement of logistics infrastructure and the establishment of industrial zones and distribution centers.

Additionally, the meeting considered a proposal for a Singaporean promotional mission to Egypt to highlight investment opportunities and economic cooperation, particularly in priority sectors and projects. Both parties stressed the importance of ongoing communication, coordination, and follow-up on existing investments and new ventures, as well as addressing any challenges faced by investors to strengthen economic, investment, and trade ties between the two countries.
