Domestic bonds attract $171m in 50 days

KARACHI: Foreign investors poured about $171 million into Pakistan’s government securities during the first 50 days of the current fiscal year, with Treasury bills attracting the bulk of the inflows at $126.9m and long-term Pakistan Investment Bonds (PIBs) drawing $44m.

Short-term inflation rises over 9pc

ISLAMABAD: Short-term inflation, measured by the Sensitive Price Index (SPI), surged by 9.04 per cent year-on-year for the week ending August 27, mainly due to higher energy prices, according to official data released on Friday. The government is steadily increasing petrol and diesel prices on a daily basis.
