Bloom-Carroll falters late in loss to Teays Valley

The Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs faced a challenging game against Teays Valley on Friday night at Carl Fell Stadium. After leading 14-7, the Bulldogs' offense struggled and the defense allowed 28 points without stopping the Vikings, resulting in a final score of 35-14. Teays Valley, who had not played in the Mid-State League for three seasons, had won all three matchups with the Bulldogs by an average of 18 points.

Bloom-Carroll coach Steve Daulton acknowledged his team's lack of consistency, particularly in offense, stating they had some good defensive stops and ball movement but fell short in key areas. Teays Valley's ground game, with six players rushing for 232 yards and four touchdowns, proved pivotal in the second half. Quarterback Landon Slusser capitalized on big runs, including a 50-yard and a 60-yard touchdown run, while Evan Maynard's 21-yard touchdown tied the game late in the third quarter.

Bloom-Carroll's defense showed improvement in pass defense, but their inability to maintain drives and sustain offensive plays proved costly. The Bulldogs will host Jonathan Alder next week, while Teays Valley travels to Licking Valley.
