Baylor QB Marshall Manning, son of Peyton Manning, out 'a few weeks' with injury

Baylor freshman quarterback Marshall Manning, the son of former NFL and Tennessee football icon Peyton Manning, will miss the Red Raiders' Week 2 game against Loudoun Sports Academy in Virginia on August 28, according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press. Manning suffered a foot injury and will be away from the team for a few weeks, as informed by Baylor coach Erik Kimrey to The Times Free Press.

Manning had limited playing time in Baylor's season opener against Brentwood Academy on August 20, a match broadcast by ESPN2. He entered the game in place of the Red Raiders' four-star quarterback and Ole Miss commit, Keegan Croucher. Manning successfully completed an eight-yard pass to Antwaun Adams near the Brentwood Academy sideline and then passed the ball to David Gabriel Georges before Croucher rejoined the game.

Baylor secured a 38-20 victory over BA. The Red Raiders won't face another in-state opponent until their match against Division II-AAA challenger CPA on September 18. Prior to that, Baylor will travel to Rabun Gap-Nacoochee in Georgia on September 4 and then head to Louisville, Kentucky to take on Trinity on September 18.
