Balerdi set for Roma transfer from Marseille

Olympique Marseille defender Leonardo Balerdi is reportedly set to transfer to Roma on loan with an option to buy, according to multiple Italian sources. The agreement between the two clubs is almost finalized, with Roma expected to finalize the talks today. The deal would see Balerdi begin his tenure at Roma as a loan move, with the option to make it permanent under certain conditions.

He must meet certain criteria, including making at least 15 appearances and playing at least 45 minutes in each, to trigger the buy-out clause. This would be Balerdi's fifth move in his professional career, joining fellow Argentinian players Paulo Dybala, Matias Soulé, Nahuel Molina, and Santiago Castro in Roma's squad. The 27-year-old Argentine has been with Marseille since 2020 and has made 200 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, scoring six goals.
