Báez makes ninth-inning plays with glove and bat to lead Tigers past Dodgers, 2-1

DETROIT (AP) — Javier Báez demonstrated his exceptional talent in the ninth inning, combining strong plays in the field and at bat to help the Detroit Tigers secure a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. In the top of the ninth inning, with two outs, Báez displayed his speed by sprinting from left field to quickly field Teoscar Hernández’s drive, reaching the deepest part of the stadium and setting up Kevin McGonigle’s game-winning single.

Later in the inning, Báez himself led off with a double and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt, allowing McGonigle to drive in the winning run.
