'B Nagendra Resigned To Save Congress From Embarrassment': DK Shivakumar Amid Valmiki Corporation Scam Allegations

Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced on Saturday that Minister B Nagendra had submitted his resignation to prevent embarrassment to the Congress party. Shivakumar stated that a final decision on Nagendra's resignation would be made after consulting with the party's leadership, with the matter to be discussed further the next morning.

At a press conference, Shivakumar explained that Nagendra had resigned after being hurt by false allegations from the opposition and disruptions to the state legislature's proceedings. The Chief Minister alleged that the BJP was making false allegations against Nagendra, a Dalit and Scheduled Caste leader, who had previously defeated senior BJP leaders in elections. Shivakumar emphasized that these allegations were far from the truth.

Shivakumar further accused the BJP of making false allegations against Nagendra and disrupting the state legislature's proceedings, despite being invited for a proper discussion. The Chief Minister stated that Nagendra had expressed his readiness to sacrifice for the party and believed that he would soon clear his name in the ongoing investigation.

The resignation of Nagendra was brought to the notice of the Congress high command in Delhi, and a final decision on the matter would be taken after further discussions with them. Responding to queries on whether Nagendra's resignation was a victory for the BJP and JD(S), Shivakumar dismissed the notion, asserting that those who resort to lies cannot achieve victory.
