Anwar vows to put rakyat's wellbeing ahead of personal gain

Permatang Pauh: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed his commitment to prioritize the well-being of the Malaysian people over personal gain during the Sahabat Madani 2026 Merdeka Eve program at UiTM Permatang Pauh. He emphasized that leadership should not be about enriching oneself, but using power and resources responsibly for the benefit of the rakyat.

Anwar stressed the importance of political stability and peace, and encouraging the younger generation to contribute to the nation's growth. He firmly rejected corruption, abuse of power, and personal gain at the expense of public trust. Those who approached him with the idea of seizing the positions of prime minister and finance minister were dismissed, as he could not accept misuse of power.

Anwar highlighted that mismanagement, abuse, and corruption could be redirected towards education and supporting disadvantaged groups, rather than being plundered by a select few. He urged Malaysians to see independence as a responsibility to build a stronger, united, and dignified nation, emphasizing the importance of integrity in governance.

Anwar called on young Malaysians to be courageous, principled, and committed to improving the lives of all Malaysians, regardless of race or background, as leadership should ultimately be judged by its impact on the rakyat's wellbeing.
