Akufo-Addo showed little interest in constitutional review — Sulemana Braimah

Sulemana Braimah, Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa, stated that former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo showed little interest in reviewing Ghana's 1992 Constitution during his time in office. In an interview on JoyNews' Newsfile, Braimah revealed that he had doubts about the outcome of the constitutional review committee established under Akufo-Addo's administration due to their previous interactions.

During a meeting with Akufo-Addo, he claimed the president argued that the Constitution had sustained Ghana's democracy for decades and thus, no compelling reason existed to alter it. Braimah emphasized that the president's perspective, which valued the constitution for its role in guaranteeing democracy, made him question whether significant progress would be made on the constitutional review process.
