Akufo-Addo mourns late Ya-Naa Abukari II at Gbewaa Palace

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo traveled to Gbewaa Palace in Yendi to pay respects to late Dagbon overlord Ya-Naa Abukari II. The ex-head of state requested that Regent Kampakuya-Naa convey his condolences to the traditional authority and people of Dagbon following the overlord's demise. Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, a Karaga MP and former Finance Minister, joined Akufo-Addo at the palace, describing the visit as an honor and a deeply moving tribute to the late Ya-Naa.

In a Facebook post on August 29, Adam expressed his humility at witnessing the "enduring bond" between Akufo-Addo and the late overlord. He stated that Dagbon would forever remember the former President's role in restoring peace and unity to the Kingdom, as the people honor the legacy of Ya-Naa Abukari II. The late Ya-Naa had previously thanked Akufo-Addo for his contribution to peace and stability in Dagbon, praising the ex-head of state for his role in the peace process and describing the Kingdom's current peace as a source of pride for the region.
