36 Nigerians deported from four European countries

A joint deportation operation involving four European countries has led to the removal of 36 Nigerians from their territory. The operation was carried out by Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, and Hungary, according to Austrian news outlet Heute.at. The deportees were transported on a charter flight between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, with their final destinations being Lagos, Nigeria, and Accra, Ghana.

In total, 41 people were flown to their respective countries of origin. Of these deportees, 35 were from Germany, comprising 29 Nigerians, five Ghanaians, and one Gambian. The remaining six deportees were from Austria, with one individual being deported who had previously been convicted of drug-related offenses.

Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner stressed the country's commitment to a deportation policy aimed at combating illegal residents and criminal offenders. Karner emphasized that "negative net migration" has been sustained through a "consistent deportation policy" and vowed to continue on this path undeterred.
