20 Kerala Children Travelling From Delhi To Kerala Fall Ill On Train At Khandwa Railway Station

A group of 15 to 20 schoolchildren from Kerala, traveling on the Mangala Lakshadweep Express from Delhi to Kerala, fell ill on Friday night after consuming food from the train's pantry car. The children, aged 15 to 18, experienced symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, and uneasiness, leading to suspicions of food poisoning. Upon reaching Khandwa railway station at 9:05 pm, a medical team was prepared as railway authorities were alerted about the children's condition.

The train was stopped for approximately 40 minutes, during which doctors conducted examinations, administered immediate treatment, and provided necessary medications. The District Hospital Civil Surgeon, Dr Aniruddh Kaushal, along with CSP Abhinav Barange, City Magistrate Bajrang Bahadur, and railway officials arrived at the station.

Station Master GL Meena confirmed the train resumed its journey towards Bhusawal at around 9:45 pm. The children, who were part of a Christian school in Kerala, had embarked on an educational tour to Delhi and were returning home with school staff. They reportedly consumed food from the pantry after passing through Itarsi, leading to their declining health.

A team of railway doctors and staff accompanied the children to monitor their condition, with plans to transfer them to a hospital in Bhusawal if required. The precise cause of the illness would be determined following further investigation.
