‘Where we fail, tell us’ – Kefas urges Taraba residents, media, civil society

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has called upon the media, civil society organizations, citizens, and opposition parties to closely monitor government operations and hold public officials accountable. During a speech in Jalingo on Thursday, the governor marked the 35th anniversary of Taraba State's establishment. Kefas emphasized that questioning authority is a crucial aspect of democracy and stressed that all stakeholders should question those in power.

Despite the state's progress since its inception, Kefas acknowledged that several issues remain unresolved, including road infrastructure, potable water access, electricity, education, healthcare, employment, and security. He outlined several areas that continue to require government attention. The governor also highlighted that while governments may make mistakes, identified shortcomings must be promptly addressed by those in leadership positions.

Kefas stated that his administration inherited significant challenges upon taking office in 2023 but refused to use these as an excuse for failure. Instead, his administration has focused on strengthening systems and institutions and developing frameworks to support accelerated and measurable development throughout the state. The governor advised citizens to critically examine government spending and projects with facts and evidence, rather than assumptions, and to visit project sites, interact with affected communities, and examine available evidence before making judgments about the administration's performance.

Kefas encouraged citizens to recognize areas where the government has succeeded, identify failures, and propose solutions for improvement. He concluded by saying, "Where we fail, tell us."
