UP Board Pushes APAAR IDs For Classes 9-12, Aims To Digitise Student Records

The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, or UP Board, is working to make it easier for students in Classes 9 to 12 to access and preserve their academic documents digitally. The board is encouraging schools to create Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) IDs for these students, which will allow their marksheets, transfer certificates, and other important academic records to be securely stored in digital form through DigiLocker.

While APAAR IDs are not currently required for advance registration or examination applications, the board aims to have all students' IDs recorded before the registration deadline. This initiative is expected to reduce the risk of important certificates being lost or damaged and enable students to retrieve their documents more easily when needed.

Additionally, maintaining accurate academic information through APAAR IDs could help students access scholarships and other welfare benefits. School authorities have been asked to support students in obtaining APAAR IDs, which require parental or guardian consent. Although the IDs are not mandatory for the current registration and examination procedures, the board views them as an important step towards establishing secure and reliable digital academic records, ultimately making students' educational records more accessible, secure, and transparent.
