Two Kwara Assembly Members Quit APC

Two serving members of the Kwara State House of Assembly have left the All Progressives Congress, contributing to the increasing number of defections from the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections. Hon. Olushola Odetundun, representing Irepodun Constituency, and Hon. Saba Yisa Gideon, representing Edu State Constituency, both resigned from the APC, citing concerns over internal democracy and fairness within the party.

Odetundun announced his decision following extensive consultations with various stakeholders, while Gideon emphasized his commitment to effective representation and grassroots development. Both lawmakers assured that their departure would not impact their dedication to serving their constituents. The exits of these two lawmakers add to the growing political realignment in Kwara, following the recent departure of Senator Saliu Mustapha, who has now become the PDP candidate for the Kwara Central senatorial district.

Mustapha's departure has prompted several other APC members and political stakeholders to follow suit. These resignations come shortly after a major political event in Ilorin, where defectors from various political factions were unveiled and recruited as grassroots canvassers for the 2027 elections. Neither Odetundun nor Gideon disclosed their future political affiliations in their resignation letters.
