Trump to mark 9/11 at Pentagon, not New York

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he will observe the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks not at the site of the Twin Towers in New York, but at the Pentagon. The New York Times reported that Trump had initially planned to commemorate the day at the Twin Towers, but changed his mind because the memorial organizers do not permit speeches.

Trump dismissed the report, stating that he never even considered the Times' claims and that he would prefer not to speak at all, as he speaks constantly. He emphasized that the day is meant to remember the victims and their families. The White House confirmed that Vice President Kamala Harris would still attend the memorial in New York, and that all three sites of the attacks – New York, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvania – will be represented by administration officials.
