Trinity Biotech expands PrePsia patent portfolio to nine patents

Trinity Biotech plc has secured nine patents for its PrePsia preeclampsia prediction platform, expanding its intellectual property portfolio to include European and U.S. protections, according to a company announcement. However, the diagnostics company received news that Nasdaq has not granted compliance with its share price requirement by the August 18 deadline, with the company planning to request a hearing to challenge any potential suspension or delisting.

Jordi Romero has been appointed as Head of Commercial Operations for Europe, bringing expertise in diagnostic sales and marketing, particularly in the haemoglobin diagnostics sector. Trinity Biotech has also made progress in deploying its upgraded high-capacity HbA1c column system for the Premier Hb9210 analyser, which offers up to four times the testing capacity compared to the previous version. This system was successfully rolled out in three of the company's largest international markets.

Additionally, Trinity Biotech has completed the manufacture of approximately 9 million TrinScreen HIV tests and initiated production of Uni-Gold HIV using an outsourced manufacturing model. The company anticipates that this model will enhance gross margin performance and working capital utilization as it scales. However, the transition process may cause temporary fluctuations in Uni-Gold HIV revenues during the ramp-up phase.

PrePsia, a screening test designed to identify pregnancies at a higher risk of preterm preeclampsia, is set to launch through Trinity Biotech's approved reference laboratory in New York State.
