Transfer: Man United get greenlight to sign Tosin Adarabioyo from Chelsea

The Premier League's Manchester United have been granted permission to sign Chelsea defender, Tosin Adarabioyo, prior to the transfer window's closure. Thus far, United have been concentrating their efforts on bolstering their central midfield, with the acquisitions of Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba from fellow Premier League clubs.

However, with mere days left in the summer transfer period, the Red Devils may now turn their attention to other areas of the squad, particularly after their 2-0 defeat to Hull City in the opening fixture of the season. According to transfer reporter, Ben Jacobs, United have been given the opportunity to sign Chelsea central defender, Tosin as a backup choice for Michael Carrick's team.

The 28-year-old has made 38 Premier League starts since his £0 million move to Chelsea from Fulham in 2024. Nonetheless, Tosin was excluded from Chelsea's starting lineup for their 3-2 win over his former club, Fulham, on Monday. Tosin was previously linked with a move to United during the 2024 transfer window but ultimately opted to join Chelsea.

Chelsea have already reinforced their defensive lineup this summer, signing Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace for £52 million. Furthermore, the Blues are close to finalizing a deal for young Atalanta center-back Honest Ahanor for around £30 million. Meanwhile, United have also shown interest in signing a left-back this summer to provide competition and support for Luke Shaw.
