Tony Romo is engaged in discussions with CBS Sports regarding his future following a leave of absence imposed after his July OWI arrest, according to his representative. The retired quarterback and sports broadcaster was placed on leave after multiple citations were issued in connection with his arrest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. These additional charges include first-offense operating while intoxicated, unsafe passing on the right side, and possessing open intoxicants in his vehicle.

Romo's spokesperson affirmed his acceptance of responsibility and emphasized that they are working with authorities to resolve the matter. Meanwhile, CBS Sports has yet to determine whether Romo will return to his role as a lead NFL analyst, with network chief David Berson noting that there is "no timetable" for a decision. The spokesperson for CBS Sports stated that Romo accepts full responsibility for his actions and is taking steps to have this civil matter resolved, while also communicating with CBS about the next steps.
