Tony Romo facing three more citations in connection with his arrest last month

Tony Romo finds himself facing three additional citations in connection with his arrest last month, which led to his placement on leave from CBS’ lead analyst position for NFL games. He was initially arrested on July 23 in Wisconsin after being pulled over for suspicion of driving under the influence. The amended charges now include additional offenses, such as possessing open intoxicants in a motor vehicle, unsafe passing on the right, and a first-offense operating while intoxicated.

Apart from these new charges, Romo had already been cited for refusing to take a test for intoxication after the arrest. CBS Sports president David Berson has not yet provided a timeline for a decision regarding Romo’s future with the network. Following Romo’s departure, analysts JJ Watt, Jim Nantz, and Tracy Wolfson will take over the lead NFL team role on CBS Sports, with their coverage beginning on September 13 during a matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office revealed that Romo performed poorly on field sobriety tests during the arrest, leading to his booking and release. A statement released by Romo’s spokesperson acknowledged his responsibility for his actions and stated that they are working with local authorities to resolve the matter and communicate with CBS about the next steps.
