Teen girl dies after car rammed by MPV, cops probe gang links

A 17-year-old girl died in a road accident in Johor on Tuesday, with police investigating potential gang involvement, according to the Johor police chief. Thirteen people, including a 15-year-old girl, were arrested in connection with the incident. The teenage victim and four friends were returning home in a car when they noticed a black Toyota Vellfire following them at around 12.40pm at Lingkaran Bulatan Persiaran Indahpura 4 in Kulai.

The Vellfire collided with their vehicle, causing the girl to be ejected from the front passenger seat. She tragically died at the scene. Initially, the case was treated as a road accident, but police later classified it as murder after making the arrests, as they looked into the possibility of gang ties. The motive remains under investigation.

The police conducted raids in Johor Bahru and Selangor, leading to the 13 arrests and the seizure of 12 phones, three vehicles, a baseball bat, and a baton. Nine of the suspects had prior criminal records, but all tested negative for drugs before being remanded until September 3.
