Tate brothers blast US jail conditions as they seek bail in UK extradition fight

Andrew and Tristan Tate, dual British-US citizens, have argued they should be released from jail in Florida so they can fight extradition to the UK on charges including rape and human trafficking. Wearing tan jail uniforms, the brothers maintained their innocence, while government lawyers claimed they were a flight risk due to their wealth and multiple passports.

Defense attorneys said their high-profile status made it unlikely they could flee. The brothers were arrested in Miami on July 19 and are awaiting a written ruling on bail from US Magistrate Judge Lauren Louis. During Thursday's hearing, defense lawyers noted the pair had followed the terms of their release while fighting the UK charges and another case in Romania.

US authorities took them into custody after the UK's Crown Prosecution Service announced new charges against them. The British government has until September 16 to submit a full extradition request. The brothers' defense included testimony from Natasha Sesay, a woman with whom Andrew Tate had a five-year relationship and with whom he has a child.

Sesay testified that her ex-boyfriend "has never ever been violent toward women." The UK has brought 59 criminal charges against the Tates, including rape, sex trafficking, and indecent images of a child.
