계엄 때 ‘선관위 서버 촬영·직원 감시’ 전 정보사 대령에 무죄 선고

On December 3 during the emergency martial law, Central Election Management Committee (선관위) information officer Chong Donghee (고동희 전 국군정보사령부 계획처장, 대령) was cleared of charges of being an accomplice to a serious crime, including taking away employees' mobile phones and seizing servers. The court ruled that Chong did not realize the purpose of his mission was to investigate fraudulent elections during the emergency martial law.

The Seoul Central District Court's Criminal 37-2 Division, led by Judge O Changseob, explained that Chong did not have enough information to judge the legality of the emergency martial law and that Chong's actions could be seen as a temporary measure to preserve the function of the national institution. The court also noted that Chong received a request from Acting Border Defense Commander Ahn Yeon-hyeong to send 100 surveillance officers to the Border Defense Corps without realizing that the request was aimed at arresting political figures like President Jeon Jae-myung.

The court considered Chong's conversation with Ahn to be brief and concluded that it cannot be inferred that Chong was aware of the political motives behind the request.
