Rob Reiner’s son Jake breaks silence on parents’ murders: ‘Every moment that I wake up, I’m reminded of my reality’

Los Angeles, Aug 28 — In a recent interview with ABC 7 Los Angeles, Jake Reiner, the son of filmmaker Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner, who were murdered at their home in December, shares his grief and reflections on his father's legacy. Reflecting on the experience, Jake says, "Nobody really understands what it’s like to go through something like that until you’re living it."

He describes the emotional turmoil, stating, "It’s been eight months. It feels like eight years at the same time. And it also feels like eight minutes. Because every moment that I wake up, I’m reminded of my reality." Jake's sister Romy discovered their father's body at the Brentwood home on December 14, informing him that their mother was missing.

Their younger brother Nick, staying in a guest house, was subsequently arrested and charged with first-degree murder, with a special circumstance of multiple murders. Jake and Romy testified before the grand jury that indicted Nick. Jake declines to discuss the case in detail, focusing on the aftermath, saying, "Nick’s in jail. It’s like, I physically lost my parents, and then Nick was arrested.

Now it’s just me and Romy, and we have to navigate this by ourselves essentially." The pretrial hearing for Nick is set for September 15.
