Rivers: Police disown claims linking 56 PMF Commander to four suspects’ arrest

The Rivers State Police Command has rejected claims that Commander of 56 Police Mobile Force, ACP London Irikefe, was involved in the arrest and prosecution of four men for allegedly abducting a woman. According to a statement issued by the police public relations officer, ASP Blessing Agabe Kaborlo, Irikefe had no part in the arrest or prosecution of Darlington Ogulo, Eze Woke Solomon, Wali Perfect and Augustine Charles.

The operation followed a report of an alleged abduction on August 12, 2026. Police found the victim, Kate Odogbo, at a detention facility owned by alleged leader Gabriel Asa Abuja, who the suspects claimed was their leader. The four suspects were arrested, along with a firearm and a homemade weapon. They were charged to court on August 21, 2026, following preliminary investigations that found allegations of illegal arms possession, intimidation, unlawful detention, and operating a security outfit without proper authorization.

The command warned that private security groups and individuals are not allowed to operate detention facilities or use police markings to deceive the public. The police urged the public to rely on official sources and cautioned against spreading false or defamatory information. The command emphasized its commitment to professional policing and impartial enforcement of the law.
