Reformen: Union und SPD wollen Reformpaket bis Jahresende umsetzen

Münster - The Union and the Social Democratic Party (SPD) aim to fully implement the reform package they agreed upon before summer recess by the end of the year, according to recent statements. This comprehensive plan includes contentious measures such as the elimination of the "pension at 63," a reform expected to relieve citizens by €10 billion annually starting in 2028.

The SPD's faction leader, Matthias Miersch, announced this "firm roadmap" during a coalition meeting in Münster, stating that citizens and businesses can now rely on this plan. The two factions of the Bundestag decided to issue a document that lists the reform program once more. However, the contentious revisions to sick leave are not included in this document.

Despite this, both Miersch and Union faction leader Thorsten Frei emphasized that these reforms are part of their program and should also be completed by year-end. The document also outlines planned measures related to climate protection, rental law, the labor market, and bureaucracy reduction. Frei saw the decision as a sign of mutual trust in the coalition.

Union leader Alexander Hoffmann, a CSU member of parliament, stressed that they aim to be drivers, not admirers, of the government. He affirmed that this will be the core task for the upcoming weeks and months.
