Rajah Caruth Scores First Career O’Reilly Series Pole at Daytona

Rajah Caruth secured his first career O’Reilly Series pole at Daytona International Speedway, leading the field to green in Friday night's Winn-Dixie 250. The No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet driver set a career-best qualifying lap of 49.118 seconds at 183.232 mph, marking his 46th series start and surpassing the 46th race milestone.

Caruth's speedy performance was consistent throughout the qualifying session, as he led the pack in the final round after claiming the top spot in the opening round. Teammate Carson Kvapil finished second, edging Caruth by just 0.086 seconds to secure the second position. The remaining top five starters for the race included Jesse Love, Sheldon Creed, and Sammy Smith.

Chevrolet topped the field, securing the first six starting positions. The pole came at an opportune time for Caruth, who is currently 15 points away from the Chase cutline. Starting from the front row gives him a chance to accumulate valuable stage points early and navigate past some of the chaos that typically develops in the deeper pack at Daytona.

Caruth has previously won two Truck Series races before transitioning into the expanded O’Reilly Series schedule with JR Motorsports in 2026. A winning pole at Daytona is an impressive feat, but Caruth and the No. 88 team now have the opportunity to turn it into a significant victory and a potential Chase berth, making Friday night one of the most crucial moments in Caruth's young career.

Superspeedway racing is notoriously unpredictable, and starting from the front does not guarantee success once the field consolidates into the draft. However, Caruth and JR Motorsports have demonstrated their speed at Daytona, and now the team must focus on finishing the race strong.
