Putrajaya, six states across Malaysia at risk of worsening haze through Aug 31, MetMalaysia says

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning that several regions across Malaysia, including Sarawak, Sabah, Johor, Melaka, Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, are at risk of experiencing worsening haze conditions through August 31. This forecast is based on the influence of south-westerly winds and a high number of hotspots in southern Sumatra and western Kalimantan.

MetMalaysia director-general Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip stated that Sarawak could be the most severely impacted area, with most districts expected to face hazy weather at the Unhealthy level. Several districts in Sarawak could reach the Very Unhealthy level on August 30 and 31. Additionally, Sabah is expected to see hazy conditions starting from Saturday, while high haze concentrations may affect several states, including Johor, Melaka, Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, until the end of the month.
