Punjab to Introduce New Facility for Driving License Applicants

Punjab authorities have announced plans to introduce a new facility to streamline the process of delivering driving license cards to applicants. The initiative aims to resolve delays currently faced by citizens awaiting their license cards. At present, the Traffic Police's Driving License Information Management System (DLIMS) only indicates whether a license card is under processing or being printed.

However, the integration of the post office's delivery system with DLIMS will enable citizens to track their cards and monitor their location in real-time. The system will provide comprehensive online information regarding the handover of the card from the traffic police to the post office, its delivery status, and its current whereabouts.

This development will significantly enhance monitoring capabilities and ensure that driving license cards reach citizens within the stipulated time frame. The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has been engaged to oversee the necessary data integration process. The authorities are optimistic that this new system will not only alleviate the current bottlenecks but also improve overall efficiency in delivering driving license cards to citizens.
