Prosecute Fadahunsi over remarks, Adeleke campaign spokesperson urges police

The Nigeria Police Force has been urged to investigate and prosecute Senator Francis Fadahunsi if evidence shows his comments during the recent Osun State gubernatorial election violated the law. This demand came from Pelumi Olajengbesi, the spokesperson for Ademola Adeleke's 2027 gubernatorial campaign, on his Facebook page. Concerned about an increasing trend of threats and inflammatory statements from political figures in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections, Olajengbesi highlighted Fadahunsi's remarks against members of the Accord Party, which sparked public backlash.

These remarks were captured on video days before the election and led to Fadahunsi's questioning by the police, though he was released without charges. Olajengbesi warned that if the police do not respond appropriately to such inflammatory political statements, it could embolden others to adopt similar tactics. He emphasized that words from influential political figures during elections carry consequences and can incite violence.

Therefore, he urged the police to act within the law on the allegations against Fadahunsi, stating that Nigeria cannot accept threats and intimidation as normal features of the democratic process by 2027.
