Polis rampas dadah RM3.2 juta, 7 termasuk suami isteri ditahan

Ketua Polis Pulau Pinang, Dennis Lim, revealed a massive drug seizure of RM3.2 million involving seven individuals, including a married couple, during a series of operations in the state recently. The operations, conducted by the Drug Enforcement Operations Division (JSJN) and the district narcotics departments since several months ago, took place in the East Coast, Northern Perai (SPU), and Central Perai (SPT) areas.

In the East Coast, four individuals, comprising three men and one woman aged between 25 to 35 years, were arrested in operations on August 15 and 16. They were found with 38.3 kg of marijuana, 11.5 kg of marijuana buds, 14 kg of shabu, 5 kg of ketamine, 16 kg of ecstasy pills, and 4,000 Erimin 5 pills. The investigation revealed that the syndicate had been approached by a married couple, aged 26 and 25, who were believed to have received marijuana and marijuana buds from a supplier from a neighboring country before distributing them in the state.

They had been involved in this activity since May last year, according to Lim during a press briefing here today.

In the SPU area, two men aged 23 and 46 were arrested in two separate operations in Butterworth, near here, on August 15 and 19. They were caught with 3.25 kg and 1.3 kg of MDMA (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine), respectively. Lim stated that the investigation found that they had obtained MDMA from a bulk package of various beverages from a syndicate before selling it to customers around the state, particularly the entertainment centers.

The two men were believed to be involved in the activity since three months ago and selling the MDMA for as low as RM100. Further investigation is being conducted to monitor the syndicate involved in processing and distributing MDMA.

Meanwhile, in the SPT area, a 28-year-old man was arrested at an apartment in Bukit Mertajam, near here, on August 22 and was found with 8.5 kg of MDMA, 1,755 ecstasy pills, 100 Erimin 5 pills, 0.63 kg of ketamine, and nine syringe cups of shabu. The man was detained until August 29 and all the cases were investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Four of the suspects tested positive for morphine, amphetamine, and methamphetamine in their urine samples, while five of them had prior criminal records related to drug and narcotics offenses. In these operations, police also seized various vehicles including a car and a motorbike, all worth a total of RM89,000. These three groups are separate syndicates with no connection to each other.
