Petroleum Minister Wants Bigger Fuel Reserves in Pakistan

Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik has advocated for expanding Pakistan's fuel reserves and storage capabilities, as the nation grapples with fluctuating global fuel prices and increasingly precarious supply routes. During a tour of Pakistan State Oil (PSO) headquarters in Karachi, Malik emphasized the government's commitment to bolstering the country's fuel distribution network and safeguarding both consumers and economic stability.

The minister examined PSO's practices and future plans, with conversations centered on fuel acquisition, the expansion of supply diversity, augmentation of storage capacity, and the adoption of digital technologies. Malik underscored the necessity for enhanced storage infrastructure and more robust supply chains to confront disruptions in global markets and vital shipping lanes.

He also highlighted the importance of accelerating digitization and automation throughout the energy sector, alongside enhancements in customer service. The minister commended PSO for maintaining a consistent fuel supply nationwide, despite worldwide geopolitical and supply challenges. He stated that both the government and energy enterprises must collaborate to construct a more dependable and contemporary energy framework for Pakistan.
