Petrol price cut by 50 paise, HSD’s by 19 paise

On Thursday, the Petroleum Division and Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) declared a slight decrease in domestic fuel prices for August 28, according to wire material. Despite falling international oil prices, the per litre cost of petrol in depots has been lowered by just 50 paise. Simultaneously, the rate of high-speed diesel (HSD) has also been reduced by 19 paise per litre.

Under the revised rates, petrol is now priced at Rs342.60 per litre, down from Rs343.10 per litre previously. HSD, on the other hand, is now priced at Rs371.61 per litre.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) is taking steps to enhance transparency by updating daily petroleum prices on its website. This move is intended to allow changes in international oil prices to be transmitted to consumers more swiftly.

Dealer margins for both products have been fixed at Rs9.98 per litre. Petroleum Levy on both petrol and HSD is set at Rs80 per litre. Customs duty for petrol remains at Rs20.65 per litre, while it is Rs15.68 per litre for HSD. Climate Support Levy (CSL) has been maintained at Rs5 per litre for both fuels.

Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) margins remain unchanged at Rs7.87 for both petrol and HSD.
