Ole Kenta: Some opposition principals may be working with UDA

Jubilee Party Secretary General Moitalel Ole Kenta has accused unnamed United Opposition principals of allegedly collaborating with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to weaken their opposition party. In an interview on August 27, 2026, Ole Kenta criticized these leaders for poaching members from his Jubilee Party, questioning their commitment to unity within the opposition.

He argued that if the opposition was truly united, they should focus on recruiting members from the UDA, their common enemy, rather than targeting parties already part of the opposition. Ole Kenta expressed skepticism about some opposition leaders, suggesting they may be working with UDA, and hinted at a potential meeting between the accused leader and UDA in September that could provide further evidence of their alleged partnership.

The allegations arise amidst a series of defections from Jubilee to the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, as political alignments shift in anticipation of the 2027 General Election. Gachagua, who is currently overseas, welcomed Kamkunji Member of Parliament Yusuf Hassan from Jubilee into the DCP on August 25, 2026, joining 11 other Jubilee constituency chairpersons and the Nairobi County chairman who had already defected to Gachagua's political camp.
