Ola Electric Launches S1Z Escooter With Bharat Cell LFP Battery

Ola Electric has unveiled its latest S1Z electric scooter, featuring a battery technology developed in-house called Bharat Cell lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology. The S1Z is aimed at the mass-market electric two-wheeler segment. The S1Z will be sold in two battery options, with the smaller 3.1 kWh variant priced at an introductory ₹79,999, while the larger 5.1 kWh variant will set customers back ₹99,999 excluding showroom charges.

Deliveries for the 3.1 kWh variant are slated to commence in December 2026. The S1Z offers a driving range of up to 179 km with the 3.1 kWh battery and 301 km for the 5.1 kWh battery. This marks the first scooter range from Ola Electric to utilize its 46-series LFP Bharat Cell technology, which has been developed at the company's Battery Innovation Centre and manufactured at its Ola Gigafactory.

Ola Electric claims that this in-house cell manufacturing has helped reduce battery costs, enabling the company to offer LFP technology at more affordable price points. In a post on the social media platform X, Ola Electric's chairman Bhavish Aggarwal stated that the S1Z breaks new ground as India's electric vehicle market accelerates.

Aggarwal emphasized that Ola Electric is not merely offering a basic scooter but has built the entire vehicle, including the battery, motor, vehicle, software and other critical components in-house. He highlighted that the company is transferring this technology advantage to Indian customers. Ola Electric's shares were trading 4.70% higher at ₹39.42 on the BSE at 12:10 IST.
