Officials call for peaceful Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Puttaparthi

The district administration in Puttaparthi has urged peace committee members and organizers of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival to take comprehensive measures for its smooth and peaceful execution, with an emphasis on public safety, traffic management, and environmental protection. On August 28, 2026, District Collector A. Shyam Prasad and Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar assessed the preparations for the festival at the Collectorate.

They inquired about the challenges faced by the organizers and deliberated on potential issues during the idol immersion ceremony. The Collector instructed the police to bolster security along procession routes and introduce traffic diversions as required to avoid congestion. Addressing the media, the Collector stated that departments were directed to ensure a continuous supply of drinking water, electricity, lighting, and sanitation facilities at idol installation and immersion points.

Additionally, the police were directed to inspect procession routes and promptly repair potholes. The Collector emphasized the deployment of cranes, lifeguards, and municipal personnel at tanks, ghats, and other water bodies utilized for immersion. He also encouraged residents to install eco-friendly clay idols rather than chemically painted ones to safeguard water bodies and the environment.
