Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says AGI is already here — and the milestone is senseless

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has claimed that artificial general intelligence (AGI) has already been achieved, though he emphasized that it is a "senseless" milestone. While AI leaders like OpenAI CEO Sam Altman are fixated on the concept, Huang sees it differently. According to Huang, AI has transitioned beyond merely responding to prompts and now possesses the ability to reflect on its performance, learn new skills, and enhance its future output.

This shift, he argues, is significant but does not warrant a milestone designation. Huang's focus is on the practical application of AI, suggesting that the real question should be whether AI performs productive and useful work. From a business standpoint, Huang's priority is generating profitable returns on investment. Huang previously made a similar assertion in a March 2026 interview, stating that an AI capable of starting, building, and running a billion-dollar company is now a reality.

However, he later qualified this claim, pointing out that while AI might create a viral app, it cannot build a company like Nvidia. He further elaborated that the likelihood of 100,000 such AI agents collectively creating Nvidia is virtually zero.
