Nordonia vs. Akron East high school football score, live updates

Nordonia and East, two Akron-area 2025 playoff teams, are set to face off in Week 2 of OHSAA high school football at Boliantz Stadium on Friday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. Nordonia enters the game with a perfect 1-0 record, while East also begins the season 1-0.

Last season, Nordonia defeated East 39-7 in Week 2. The Knights made a strong start to the current season by sweeping St. Vincent-St. Mary with a 49-7 victory in Week 1. This year, East pulled out an impressive 12-7 win over Bedford in their Week 1 matchup.

Nordonia's standout player from Week 1 was quarterback Steve Fakult, who completed 346 yards and tossed five touchdowns against St. Vincent-St. Mary. Fakult has several reliable receivers, including Collin Atha, Dominick Jackson, Karsen Fisher, and Brock Barwidi, who each scored a touchdown in the same game. Fisher, a highly-recruited Toledo player, leads the Knights' defense as their linebacker. Most of the Knights' starters from last season are returning for the 2025 campaign.

East's key player is Marcus Council, an All-Ohioan running back and cornerback who returned to East after playing at Streetsboro for the past two seasons. He scored a rushing touchdown in Week 1. Another All-Ohioan, Terrel Diesel Karim Jr., who has committed to Bowling Green, also found the end zone in Week 1 and will serve as East's primary defensive force, which held Bedford to a single touchdown in their opening game.

East's head coach, Marques Hayes, has guided the Dragons for 15 seasons, compiling an impressive 84-67 record. Meanwhile, Nordonia's Scott Barwidi is in his inaugural year as the Knights' head coach.
