No economic growth without security – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu emphasized that economic growth in Nigeria cannot be achieved without ensuring the security of its citizens, stating that peace and stability are crucial for businesses to flourish. At the graduation ceremony of the National Defence College Course 34 in Abuja, 103 participants received certificates, representing various branches of the Nigerian military, police, and international participants.

President Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, pledged the government's commitment to strengthening security forces with necessary equipment, training, and resources to combat terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, piracy, and organized crime. He stressed that restoring security must be followed by economic opportunities to enable citizens to work, trade, and improve their livelihoods.

Tinubu linked Nigeria's security challenges to the broader economic transformation needed to create jobs and enhance living standards across Africa. He called for industrialization driven by the African Continental Free Trade Area, which he believes will foster inclusive growth, reduce vulnerabilities, and bolster Africa's bargaining power.

The President also reaffirmed the commitment to building a peaceful, prosperous, and economically integrated Africa, urging the graduates to apply their knowledge to tackle the nation's security and developmental challenges.
