NIT Calicut 22nd convocation: Record 2,128 graduates to receive degrees on August 29

In August, Lagos ports handled a total of 2,392,354 metric tonnes of crude oil imports, making it the dominant commodity passing through the major ports. The Lekki Deep Sea Port imported 1,867,712 metric tonnes of crude oil in the first week, with an additional 524,742 metric tonnes scheduled to arrive at Apapa Quays before the end of the month.

Bulk wheat followed as the next most significant import, with 321,849 metric tonnes recorded. Aviation fuel and bulk fertilizers also played a notable role in the imports, with 118,000 metric tonnes and 44,000 metric tonnes respectively. Other products such as automotive gas oil (AGO) and premium motor spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, contributed to the overall volume.

Despite the prominence of crude oil, there was no specific record of crude oil imports under a specific category for the period reviewed. The Lekki Deep Sea Port saw 25 vessels involved in import shipments during the first 10 days of August, and no containerized cargo was recorded during this period. The data underscores the critical role of petroleum products and other bulk commodities in the cargo movement through Lagos' major maritime gateways.
