Nigeria: 'Do I Look 80?' - Atiku Dismisses Age Concerns Ahead of Presidential Election

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, has dismissed age concerns as he prepares for the 2027 Nigerian election. Responding to inquiries about his age, Atiku asked the BBC Hausa interviewer, "Do I look to you like someone who has reached 80 years of age?" He emphasized his physical fitness and health, questioning how President Bola Tinubu, who is rumored to be around 80 years old, would compare in terms of leadership capability.

Atiku pointed out that voters had already chosen a candidate in his 90s, suggesting that age should not be a deciding factor. He firmly stated that he was the one who had initiated the opposition coalition, and that Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso were the only opposition figures who had since left. Atiku expressed confidence that the remaining coalition members would continue to work together for the country's benefit.
